Safer Gambling week runs from 17th to 23rd November 2025.
What is Safer Gambling Week?
Safer Gambling Week is a UK-wide initiative that promotes safer play and raises awareness amongst players. It is essential that all gaming organisations and companies across the country support this important cause. We all share a responsibility to maintain transparency and actively enforce a healthy gaming culture. Every year, Safer Gambling Week reminds the industry that gaming should always be safe; a value that lies at the heart of everything we create at Storm.
This week, our focus will solely be on offering advice and promoting safer gambling. We’ll be sharing daily tips across our social media platforms to remind players to stay in control of their game time and enjoy gaming safely. Setting a budget, taking regular breaks and knowing the signs of problem gambling is a great place to start, but there is a long way to go with promoting safer gambling.
We’d like to finish with a final reminder that safer gambling should not just be promoted during the nominated week but should be actively carried out everyday. At Storm, we’ll continue to put safe gambling at the front and foremost of everything we release and maintain that the joy of gaming is when it is safe for everyone.
Gaming is made to be fun, not at the cost of your health.
Key things to take from Safer Gambling Week:
'It's good to set yourself limits.'
Being strict and sticking to limits is vital in gaming. Once you lose track of your limits, you are no longer playing safely.
'Gambling is not a way to make money.'
I think this is the main point we’d like to make very clear, gambling is not the answer to your problems and it is certainly not a way to make money. Gaming is about luck. Gambling to pay for rent and bills is not safe gambling. Only ever stake what you afford to lose.
Take a break
To reflect on both of the above points, a key part is please take a break, a good break, away from gambling. It’s easy to get lost in a game, but taking a break makes a huge difference in safe play and responsible decision making. Just take a moment away.
‘Friends and family are more important than gambling.’
I love this point they highlight. Addiction gambling takes away from precious moments with whats really important: loved ones. When your relationship with gambling becomes unsafe, your relationships with others can be interfered also.
