Curious about what a Business Development Manager gets up to at Storm? We thought there was no better way to introduce our team member, Brooke Richardson. Brooke is a pro at sourcing and building new connections and on top of that, the team would all agree she’s an absolute joy to work with! Read on to see what Brooke gets up to in her new role:

  1. Do you have a specific morning routine that helps you get into the mindset for managing business growth in the gaming industry?

My mornings always start with coffee and a walk with my sausage dog, Wudy. It’s my time to clear my head before the day kicks off. Then we head to the office together. I like getting in early before things get busy, going through emails, checking what’s come in overnight from other markets and setting a clear plan for the day. That quiet first hour helps me focus and get into the right mindset before everything starts moving.

  1. How do you start your day as a Business Development & Account Manager at Storm? Are there particular tasks or priorities you focus on first?

I always start with what actually moves things forward, operator follow-ups, client updates, or anything tied to upcoming opportunities. I’m big on momentum, so if something’s hot, I make sure it stays that way. Structure is important, but you also need to stay flexible because in igaming, things can shift fast.

  1. What does a typical workday look like for you in a gaming business context? How do you balance meetings, strategy planning, and relationship-building?

No two days are ever the same. Some are packed with calls and meetings with operators or partners, others are more focused on strategy, numbers, and client management. Relationship-building is a constant, whether it’s a quick chat, coffee, or follow up call, I keep communication open and consistent. I’m very intentional with my time, once I’m in work mode, I don’t waste a minute.

  1. What tools/activities do you rely on to track opportunities, manage partnerships and stay connected with your team in the gaming sector?

I rely on a combination of tools and direct communication to stay on top of everything. CRM is central for tracking opportunities and managing existing accounts, while LinkedIn helps me keep an eye on the market and identify potential leads. Follow-ups via email, phone, and messaging channels are key to keeping relationships strong, and I make sure to stay in regular touch with both clients and the team. I also attend industry conferences to meet new contacts, stay informed on trends, and strengthen relationships, staying connected in every way possible is essential in this role.

  1. How do you ensure effective communication with your team and external partners, especially when collaborating remotely on game launches or updates?

I don’t manage the actual game launches myself but I do keep close communication with both the product team and the clients. My responsibility is to advise clients and potential partners about upcoming games, what’s coming next, what might fit their audience best, and where opportunities lie. Even though I’m the only one in the Malta office, communication is smooth, and I make sure everyone stays aligned and informed

  1. What are some of the biggest challenges you face when driving business growth in the gaming industry and how do you overcome them?

Competition and timing are always big challenges, everyone’s fighting for visibility and market share. What really helps is how innovative and driven our teams are. They work tirelessly to stay ahead of trends, adapt to market shifts, and constantly push creative boundaries. That kind of support makes it easier to go out there confidently and drive growth, knowing we’ve got something fresh and competitive behind us. For me, it’s all about staying proactive, keeping relationships strong, and trusting the people around me to deliver, and they always do.

  1. What does your office or workspace look like? Are there any setup tips that help you stay productive while managing complex projects?

My office is my own space, organised, functional, and exactly how I like it. Wudy has his little corner where he can relax while I work. I’ve added a few personal touches, including a bit of pink, which is my favourite colour and always brings a positive vibe to the space. Having a workspace that’s entirely my own helps me stay focused, productive, and in the right mindset throughout the day.

    8. How do you wrap up your workday after managing? Do you have any rituals that help you switch off at home?

Once I wrap up the main part of my day, I like to shift into evening routines that help me recharge, like heading to a fitness class or a game of padel, I’m still a newbie, but I’m getting there. I also make time for self-care, like my weekly blow-dry or getting pampered, and sometimes I’ll go out for dinner. Even though I’m winding down, I still keep an eye on channels like Telegram or emails, especially if there’s a time difference, because business development rarely fits into a 9 to 5 schedule.

  1. What’s your favourite part of being a Business Development & Account Manager at Storm and how does working in Malta impact your role and job satisfaction?

My favourite part is the people and the pace. I’m the only one based in Malta while the rest of the team’s in the UK, but I never feel disconnected, we’re constantly in touch, and they always make me feel part of everything. The gaming scene in Malta is super dynamic and full of energy, so it keeps things exciting. I love the flexibility, the challenge, and the buzz of being in the middle of it all. It’s fast-paced, competitive, and keeps me on my toes, exactly how I like it.
